The Calculation Changed Twice
The finish line moved, again, while you were still working toward it — a number recalculated, a formula adjusted, the reward you'd been counting on shifting shape right as you thought you'd finally reached it. This is the frustrating shadow of a long-earned completion: the goalposts don't always stay still, even after decades of good faith effort, and there's real grief in watching a sure thing become a little less sure.
